TeraGrid Allocation Requests: Submission Deadline, Guidelines, Resource Changes
The TeraGrid will soon be accepting Research Allocation Requests for the allocation period, Jan. 1, 2010 to Dec. 31, 2010. Submissions will be accepted from Sept. 15 until Oct. 15. Please submit your allocation request through the POPS URL or through the Allocations tab of the TG Portal:
- Allocation Request Submission Deadline: Oct. 15, midnight local time.
The TeraGrid will host a teleconference on two different dates to provide step-by-step instructions and answers to your questions on how to write and submit a successful proposal.
- Allocation Request Guidelines Telecon 1: Sept. 11, 1:00-2:30 CDT (central)
- Allocation Request Guidelines Telecon 2: Sept. 21, 1:00-2:30 CDT (central)
Call 1-866-740-1260 and enter Access Code 8229741.
To view the presentation online during the talk, visit readytalk during the call and enter the same access code in the Participant Login box. (For our records, please enter your name, email and institution when requested.)
- New TACC Visualization and Data Analysis System (Longhorn)
- Some TG Systems reach end-of-service in March 2010
See the Resource Catalog for an updated list of compute, visualization, and storage system availabilities. Details of TACC’s new 256 node (Nehalem CPUs /NVIDIA GPUs) vis/data-analysis system will be posted in the catalog for this submission period. Only projects needing to complete a computational program should request enough SUs to finish up on systems that end service in March. PIs with New Requests should not apply for these systems, but should select the (set of) individual system(s) most appropriate for their applications. The TG-Wide Roaming Access resource will most likely end in March, and should therefore only be requested for support until March.
- Allocation Request Procedures (how to, new auto-fill feature)
The Allocations Policy document explains the allocations process and procedures; instructions on preparing a resource request document and examples are available on the TG web pages. POPS now features auto-fill for renewal/supplement/justification/progress_report requests. PI, co-PI, and Supporting Grants form entries are automatically populated from the previous request. For renewals, please make sure you update any changes in PI/co-PI biography, remove expired grants, include new grant funding, and update values for the proportion of funding supporting your TG computational projects.
